Battery Offer
The Lifetime of Free Batteries offer has been discontinued as of January 1, 2008.
We are sorry to report that we are no longer extending the free battery offer, due to new provisions (specifically 49 CFR 173.21(c) ) in the United States hazardous materials regulations.
This provision prohibits "the offering for transportation or transportation of ... electrical devices which are likely to create sparks or generate a dangerous quantity of heat, unless packaged in a matter which precludes such an occurrence." This includes all batteries: alkaline, lithium, lead, nickel metal hydride, carbon zinc, etc. Lithium and lithium ion cells and batteries are listed as Class 9 Miscellaneous hazardous materials in the U.S. and international hazardous materials regulations and thus are subject to specific packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping paper requirements.
While we would still like to offer you this promotion, we found that with the extra fees to send via hazmat shippers that it is significantly less expensive to purchase the batteries yourself.
